Privateer is a point tracking and raid management tool for World of Warcraft raiding. It was designed and written by Warcaster of Hordeland Security on Baelgun as a replacement for Raid Manager

The tool consists of two main components - this web application and an in-game mod. The in-game mod can be either the original Raid Manager or the new Privateer mod. Both interact with the web application via XML imports and exports.

The top level item in Privateer is a pool. A pool is the overall container for a guild's point system. A guild may have multiple pools.

User accounts are global to Privateer. When a user registers with the site they may go to the My Account section and create a request to join a pool. A user may belong to multiple pools.

A user's access level is determined at the pool level. An admin in one pool may be a simple user in another pool. Privateer uses a hierachical role-based access mechanism. Each successive role in the hiearchy has all the rights of lower roles. Role rankings from highest to lowest are:

• Site Admin - There is only one site admin for Privateer.
• Pool Owner - Top level admin for a pool. This user can create pool admins and administer the pool.
• Pool Admin - Standard admin for a pool. These users can create loot masters and administer the pool.
• Loot Master - Loot Master for the pool. These users run the in-game mod and import/export raid and pool data. They may also edit raid data before it is processed.
• Pool User - The standard user role for the pool. These users can view all general data and update their own characters.

Privateer offers any registered user the ability to view and manage all characters under their control. To add a character to your account, simply search for your characters and click "Request" at the end of the line. This will create a Character Request. Once your Character Request has been approved by an admin, it appears under the main view in My Account.

Privateer is available to any World of Warcraft guild. However, due to the nature of the design only a hosted option is available at this time. If you would like to use Privateer for your guild, please contact Warcaster of Baelgun for details.
